GCO Director meets a delegation from The German BVMW GCC Office
Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Director of the Government Communications Office (GCO) and Chairman of the Permanent Web Summit Organising Committee, met with Nizar Maarouf, Liaison Director of the German BVMW GCC Office, and Christian Schwippert, Managing Director, to discuss the roadmap for the second edition of the German Startup Pavilion at Web Summit Qatar 2026, taking place from 1–4 February in Doha.
During the meeting, Sheikh Jassim congratulated the German BVMW GCC Office for the successful management of the first German Startup Pavilion at Web Summit Qatar 2025. He reaffirmed his team’s full support for the upcoming edition, ensuring strong collaboration to make it an even greater success. He also expressed anticipation for the next wave of German startups to seize the growing opportunities at the event.
Nizar Maarouf highlighted the success of the pavilion’s debut in 2025, which brought over 100 companies to the event. He expressed gratitude to Sheikh Jassim and his team for their continued support and warm hospitality, noting that this commitment will help German startups thrive again at next year’s global platform.
The meeting underlined the shared commitment to strengthen German-Qatari cooperation in innovation and entrepreneurship, with both sides focused on delivering a larger, more impactful German Startup Pavilion at Web Summit Qatar 2026. The cooperation will foster new investment and knowledge partnerships, support technology transfer, and expand opportunities for entrepreneurs in Qatar and the wider region.
