On March 26, 2024, the "Qatar meets the Innovation Ecosystem of Saxony – Focus Day Qatar" was held, organized by the German Mittelstand GCC Office with representatives from the Qatari Embassy in Berlin. This event served as a key platform to engage with Saxony’s tech hub, Silicon Saxony, home to Europe’s largest microelectronics cluster including GlobalFoundries, Infineon, and Bosch Semiconductors.

Starting at GlobalFoundries headquarters in Dresden, presentations provided insights into semiconductor manufacturing. TU Dresden discussed academia-industry collaborations, while the State Chancellery of Saxony highlighted governmental support.

In Leipzig, the German Mittelstand GCC Office hosted discussions on business opportunities in Qatar, featuring Invest Qatar, QRDI, and QFZA. Innovative sectors like biotechnology, represented by Biohealth Cluster biosaxony, expressed strong interest in entering the Qatari market.

The event enriched our understanding of Saxony’s semiconductor industry and opened doors for future collaborations, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between Qatar and Saxony. We look forward to advancing Qatar’s technological and economic landscape through these new connections.
